The Center for Integrated Agriculture
The Center for Integrated Agriculture is almost complete in Parrish, Florida, on Gamble Creek Farm. It is located on 26 acres (Agricultural zoning) on Golf Course Road adjacent to Gamble Creek.
Gamble Creek Farm is one of the ways in which the Florida West Coast Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) is implementing its goals of helping local businesses meet the demand for local food. This site is being developed to demonstrate and evaluate water resource management and to train farmers and assist them in launching their own businesses.
The site includes:
- A meeting room for beginning farmer training as well as for use by community groups
- Business incubation facilities and services for agricultural businesses including a Beginning Farmer Resource Library
- Partnership involvement in program delivery to maximize service to clients
-
Demonstration and evaluation of high-tech integrated water resource management, including automation of different alternative water sources such as reclaimed water, surface water, and well water
