In 2006, NRCS received congressional approval to modify the scope of the MARS project to include easement purchase for demonstration purposes. In accordance with Amendment No. 6 to the MARS Working Agreement, an easement was developed and acquired on the Gamble Creek Farm site.

Gamble Creek Farm is currently being developed as a working agricultural demonstration site for integrated water resources management in East Manatee County. It will provide an economically-viable model for small scale agriculture while demonstrating an entire Resource Management System (RMS) for maximum sustainability.

The site will include:
> High-tech integrated water resource management, including automation of different alternative water sources
> Alternative energy technologies
> Community involvement including demonstration and outreach
> Cooperative conservation that includes multiple partners to maximize the impact for the lowest cost
> Market-based conservation, highlighting the eventual financial independence of the demonstration sites
